Resistance (biological)

The ability of a microorganism to withstand measures taken to destroy it. For example, Antibiotic resistance appears where some sub-populations of a microorganism (e.g. bacterial specie) are able to survive exposure to one or more antibiotics. This phenomenon tends to become a serious and growing problem in contemporary medicine.
